John 5:39-40
'You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life. '
Just reading or knowing the bible and doing good works won't forgive your sins or get you into heaven. To quote a good friend, "Christ did the work of a Savior, now we must do the work of a sinner." And the work of a sinner is to repent of your wrongdoings, and to turn your focus from your selfish desires, to Christ and making His name bigger.
